St Marks Road

North Kensington, London

General needs housing for
Notting Hill Housing Trust

The dwellings are designed to
have south facing living areas
and all houses have gardens.
Flat entrances and external
stairs are covered with a
sheltering roof continuing
the local tradition of entrance
canopies.

Thirteen new family houses and
nineteen flats face a busy street.
Narrow frontage dwellings are mixed
in a terrace on the street frontage
maximising the density while using
a well tested urban form.

The building steps forward and back
to articulate the terrace while brick
piers and raised planters strongly
define the street boundary.

Through an archway in the main terrace
a small mews area provides further
houses and flats, including three units
for disabled people.

There are 17 off street car spaces
and 6 on plot in addition to
on street parking.
