New social housing for
Rosemary Simmons Memorial
Housing Association

These three two storey terraced family
houses provide much desired social
housing on a brown field site close to
the centre of Guildford.

The site is located on a busy road
close to central Guildford and is
bordered on two further sides by
pedestrian routes used intensively
by local students.

The site lies within a densely
developed area of 19th Century
housing, now designated as a
conservation area. The development
has therefore been designed in terms
of style and materials to fit
naturally within the conservation
area.

The houses have level access from the
street with kitchens and bathrooms on
the street side and living areas and
the bedrooms on the quieter garden side,
facing south-west.

Prior to development the site was in
use as a car park Due to a lack of
car parking for residents in the area,
the brief required a number of the
car parking spaces for them in addition
to parking for the development.
