Edward Arnold Court

Kempston Bedfordshire

Improvements to sheltered
housing for Housing 21

The 62 self contained flats provide
accommodation for older people in
Kempston.

The entrance was formerly ill defined
and hard to find and a new entrance
canopy now clearly signals its position.

It leads into a welcoming remodelled
entrance area with a manager's office
to one side, toilet facilities and a new
guest room.

 Before

A new lift shaft and lift were provided,
visible from the main entrance and
have proved a popular addition to the
court's facilities.
When first constructed corridors
were in the open-air and on a
variety of levels linked by steps.

Improvements at Edward Arnold
Court have included enclosing
the exposed corridors and providing
ramping so that much of the court
has become easily accessible to the
residents for the first time.
